Abstract

The authors propose a novel all-optical signal discriminator (ODSC) using a high-speed saturable absorber optical gate which has >20dB extinction ratio and threshold response. Error-free all-optical discrimination is realised for lOps optical pulses encoded by a 622Mbit/s PRBS (pseudorandom bit stream).
