Abstract

3ps, 2.4Gbit/s all-optical pulse discrimination is achieved with an optical discriminator (ODSC) using a high-speed saturable absorber optical gate. 3ps pulses generated using a monolithically integrated modelocked laser diode (MDLD) are used to reduce the switching energy of an optical gate.
