Abstract

A mode dispersion limited 2.5Gb/s 100m transmission with a graded index plastic optical fiber (GI-POF) and a 647nm high speed LD was achieved for the first time. It was confirmed that the available transmission capacity of a GI-POF link was about 30 times higher than that of a conventional SI-POF link.
