(-)-(3S)-4-(2-{[4,4-Dimethoxy-6-(benzyloxymethyl)perhydropyran-2-yl]methyl}-1,3-dithian-2-yl)-4-methyl-3-(1,1,2,2-tetramethyl-1-silapropoxy)- Pentan-1-ol

Abstract

The absolute configuration of (-)-(3S)-4-(2-{[4,4-Dimethoxy-6-(benzyloxymethyl)perhydropyran-2-yl]methyl}-1,3-dithian-2-yl)-4-methyl-3-(1,1,2,2-tetramethyl-1-silapropoxy)-pentan-1-ol was determined, and it was prepared in a synthetic study concerning the natural products bryostatins. It was observed that two independent molecules showed similar conformations, except for the orientation of the methoxy groups. The absolute structure of the compound was determined based on a Flack parameter value of 0.0 (1), which was consistent with the expected absolute configuration of 3S produced by Sharpless asymmetric epoxidation protcol.
