Abstract
Catalytic asymmetric carbon-carbon bond-forming reactions in which thioamide and allylic cyanide functionalities play a central role are reviewed. These two functionalities share a characteristic property of a soft Lewis base, which is a key to the chemoselective activation triggering the reaction. Recent advances in cooperative catalysis allow for the implementation of this emerging class of substrates in a series of catalytic asymmetric carbon-carbon bond-forming reactions under proton transfer conditions.
