Abstract

We designed and fabricated a new polarized laser backlight containing a light guide plate of a zero-zero-birefringence polymer. The degree of polarization of the output light around the normal direction was higher than 95 %. Moreover, the highly collimated output light was achieved resulting in high power efficiency.
