A study of acceleration control system via industrial motion network

Abstract

In recent years, the drive source of industrial machinery is covered by servo motors. When a machinery vendor handles servo motors, the servo motor control program needs to be implemented in a motion controller or a programmable logic controller (PLC). Recent servo motors are controlled via a motion network, and it is necessary to consider the delay due to network communication. Hence, this paper presents an acceleration control system via industrial motion network. When trying to construct an acceleration control system on the motion controller side, the motion network delay adversely affects the control system. Therefore, the effect of time delay for acceleration control and how to deal with it are discussed. Also, a velocity controller has been introduced as a design example of a controller via a motion network.
