Abstract
Wear characteristics of monocrystalline and sintered CBN grains were experimentally studied. Two different kinds of wear tests were carried out, i.e. continuous wear test and cluster overcut fly grinding test. It was confirmed through the wear tests that there was considerable difference in the wear characteristics among CBN grains, depending on the difference in manufacturing processes and that the wear process of CBN grains was considerably affected by micro fracture of grain edges. Grinding performance of CBN grains were evaluated using the toughness and the wear performance measured in this series of tests. (English abstract)
