Abstract

We have developed a 17.3-inch 8K wide color gamut in-plane switching LCD (IPS-LCD) with a polarized laser backlight. By applying a zero–zero-birefringence polymer, the polarized laser backlight emits polarized light with 88% polarization. The IPS-LCD with the developed polarized laser backlight achieves a wide color gamut with high efficiency.
