Abstract
A novel biasing scheme for sensing circuits, namely the automated bias control (ABC) circuit, is proposed for improving operation margin and minimizing process sensitivity to enhance the performance of VLSIs. The authors describe the ABC circuit and report its three successful applications; a sense amplifier, an address transition detector, and an ECL (emitter coupled logic)-CMOS input buffer. With the ABC circuit, sensing circuits for these high-performance VLSIs are accelerated.
