Abstract

Nara Institute of Science and Technology (NAIST) started practical services of a digital library system for campus use since April 1996. After 4 years experience, we did a redesign of the digital library system in 1999. Operation of the 2nd generation system started in April 2000. We describe the design policy of the digital library system. A system overview is also introduced. We continue research on digital libraries to build advanced services that replace current digital library services. Research topics in our research division are also described.
