Abstract

Novel and artificial anthraquinone-carbohydrate hybrids were designed and synthesized, and found to effectively cleave DNA under irradiation with a long wavelength UV light and also exhibit cytotoxicity against HeLa S3 cells. (C) 2000 Elsevier Science Ltd.
