Abstract

A description is given of electron-beam-pumped KrF laser experiments that have been recently performed on the Tahoma device to provide data for the computer model development at the Los Alamos National Laboratory. The emphasis of the experiments has been twofold. First, the measurements were intended to provide a complete set of data for the laser characteristics at a known operating condition. Second, since the laser intrinsic efficiency is a critical parameter in ICF applications and since the largest uncertainty with measuring the efficiency is determining the e-beam deposition, steps were taken to reduce and quantify all the uncertainties associated with this determination.
