Abstract

Qian, Z.-Y., Sato, H. and Watanabe, K., 1992. Compressibility factors and virial coefficients of HFC-134a by the Burnett method. Fluid Phase Equilibria, 78: 323-329. The compressibility factors of HFC-134a (1,1,1,2-tetrafluoroethane) have been measured by using a Burnett apparatus at temperatures of 320, 330 and 340 K, and pressures from 0.13 to 1.93 MPa. Three sets of the second and third virial coefficients have also been determined from the measurements. Twenty-one compressibility factors were obtained. The uncertainty of the compressibility factors is estimated as being less than ±0.2%. The experimental uncertainties are ± 10 mK in temperature measurements, and ± 0.3 kPa in pressure measurements. The purity of the sample HFC-134a used was better than 99.99 wt.%.
