Abstract

Greep feed grinding is an effective technology to increase the productivity of form grinding. This method has, however, some problems which are mainly caused by the remarkable change of the wheel surface topography during grinding process. Namely, development of the attritious wear of grain cutting edge is severe, which makes it difficult to grind a workpiece of large length. In order to solve this problem, it is proposed in this study to dress a grinding wheel continuously during grinding process. A creep feed grinding machine which has a continuous dressing device is developed and some grinding tests are carried out. Effectiveness of this technology is confirmed through a series of experiments.
