Critical current properties of fine filament superconducting wires for the SSC

Abstract

Nb-Ti superconducting wires with high performance were developed and manufactured at the Furukawa Electric Co., Ltd. under the SSC Vendor Qualification Program. Our efforts were focused on meeting major requirements for the wires such as long unit length, narrowest variation of Cu-to-SC ratio and high performance of critical current. The peak values of critical current density and n values were measured in process of the program. These properties were analyzed in terms of Nb-Ti billet manufactures, performance of wire such as Cu-to-SC ratio and thermomechanical process conditions. The manufacture of the product will be benefitted from the results, when it reaches a stage of mass-production.
