Abstract

This paper analyzes the cutoff rate performance for space diversity in Rayleigh fading channels without channel state information (CSI). Selection combining (SC), maximal ratio combining (MRC) and equal gain combining (EGC) are considered as diversity combing techniques. For these schemes, the Chernoff factors are derived in a correlated Rayleigh fading channel without CSI. Some numerical results are shown for M-ary phase-shift keying (MPSK). It is shown that space diversity with each combining technique in Rayleigh fading channels without CSI is effective for MPSK signal sets in terms of cutoff rate.
