Abstract
In the multi-media packet communication network, the packet priority discipline should be dynamically adjusted by the priorities of the packets in the queue according to their delay requirements and experienced queueing delays at the nodes. In this paper, we consider the effect of delay-dependent priority discipline on the queueing delay of a packet switch with batch Poisson arrivals. The mean waiting time of class 1 and class 2 packets for various values of threshold T versus traffic load is obtained for the batch Poisson arrivals by computer simulation. It is shown that HOL-PJ discipline is effective for the system with the batch Poisson arrivals.
