Effects of cation partial substitution for Hg site of Hg1223 on superconducting properties

Abstract

Hg-based superconductors, Hg0.8M0.2Ba2Ca2Cu3O y, (Hg(M)1223; M = Cr, Mo, W, In, Ru and Sn) were prepared using a high pressure technique and their superconducting properties, Tc and Birr, were investigated. Nearly single-phase samples of Hg(M) 1223 (M = Cr, Mo, In and Ru) were obtained by heating at 1000-1100°C for 1-4 h under 6 GPa. Tc of the substituted samples was lower than 135 K. Enhancement in Birr was observed in Hg(Ru)1223. A possible explanation for this phenomenon was proposed.
