Abstract

This paper reports efficacy of candle-like array electrode for electroencephalography (EEG) measurement on hairy scalp. This electrode has 25 small pillars on the surface of the electrode. Each pillar has micro-needle on the top side. The pillars help the micro-needles to avoid hair and reach the scalp surface. We changed diameter of the pillars and experimentally found efficacy of candle-like array for avoiding hair. The presented candle-like micro-needle electrode appears to be a promising candidate for measuring EEG signals on hairy scalp with better quality and comfort for users than the conventional electrodes.
