Abstract
In terms of operating temperature, conventional poly (methyl methacrylate)-based Graded index polymer optical fibers (GI POFs) are insufficient to meet requirements for local area networks inside automobiles. On the other hand, poly (p-Chloro styrene) (P (p-ClSt)) has high glass transition temperature and is expected high heat-resistance material for GI POFs. In this study, we investigated three properties of P (p-ClSt) bulks; transparency, thermostability and bandwidth property. According to these results, P (p-ClSt)-based GI POFs can be promising candidate for high thermostability GI POFs.
