Abstract

A purpose of this paper is to recognize a face from a near-infrared (NIR) camera image. The face detection with a NIR camera is comparatively difficult because images obtained by the NIR camera are gray scale images. In this paper, the filter by the GA is designed for the purpose of getting the faces. The method of detecting faces and its position from the NIR images is proposed as an online system. It is demonstrated that our approach is effective for vehicle driver monitoring. Finally, it was confirmed that the proposed method works well.
