Fast regular mesh approximation of 3D models by cylindrical mapping

    Abstract

    One of the most challenging issue might be compactly encoding a huge 3D model data into a 2D image data. In this paper, we discuss enhancement of its process speed by proposing a method for a Cylindrical-mapping of 3D models which maps a model to cylindrical image quickly. Our method is based on projection-type, not a Raytracing-type generally used, and makes it possible to encode models faster.
