Abstract

Analyses transient laminar flow in the pipe entrance in e.g. cooling systems and tidal power systems, by a modified momentum integral method. Calculates dynamic distributions of the velocity profiles, boundary layer thickness, wall shear stress, and pressure coefficients. Compares numerical results with experimental results and discusses the relationship between flow rate and inlet length, and the influence of slip velocity. (C.J.U.)
