Abstract

This study proposed a multistable structure using snap-through behavior as an adaptable structure, which can change its size and transform its configuration easily. To know the stable configuration and stress of the structure, the form finding analysis method of the structure is formulated. Then, a design support system is proposed based on a calculation method of required forces to transform its configuration. Finally, several configurations are demonstrated with a small scale model to show the adaptability and feasibility of the proposed structure.
