Abstract

We synthesized novel azobenzene liquid-crystalline polymers with a thienylacetylene moiety, and examined their properties. We prepared homogeneously aligned films, and evaluated their order parameter and birefringence. We observed the formation of holographic gratings upon irradiation of two laser beams.
