Abstract

The Internet which connects PCs and computers is now starting to connect 'everything' including sensors and other devices. The Interact has been providing global communication to professionals but now also to 'everybody' including kids and elders. The bits passed around on the Interact have been increasing exponentially. All of these changes introduce us the new Internet architecture for future advanced communication. The basic philosophy of the Interact architecture allows the best use of the growing technologies of electrooptics area, and also encourages the creations and inventions of new concept of applications. Overlooking the technology growth, media and appliance industries is starting to re-design their model of business. The talk discusses the new Internet technologies and architecture and reports developments and experiences of them on the projects such as Internet automobile, digital video transmission, IPv6 operation. The talk also includes the reports on the social deployment efforts of the new Internet environment in Japan.
