Abstract

Gastrectomy, which means removal of the stomach, has currently been performed mostly for curative treatment of stomach cancer in combination with regional lymph node dissection. After the removal, digestive tract is reconnected using esophagojejunostomy, gastroduodenostomy, gastrojejunostomy, or esophagogastrostomy. Some complications take place early or late after gastrectomy in association with the extent of stomach and lymph node dissection. Minimally invasive approach improves the patient's recovery and quality of life.
