Abstract

Real-time generation and switching of 100-Gb/s optical packets with 8-bit return-to-zero pulse patterns was realized by constructing a lookup table of the control signal for use by an optical pulse synthesizer. The resulting packet patterns agreed well with the design specifications. The reproducibility of a packet pattern for a given control current was also confirmed.
