Abstract

The authors present an introduction to the high-level design of GOBNET, an ongoing research effort at the University of Pennsylvania to extend the Memmet distributed shared memory research to a wide-area environment. GOBNET also supports distributed object-oriented systems. The authors describe some of the issues in the design of GOBNET, including memory as the abstraction of wide-area-network, object-orientation, and object location.
