Abstract

We propose a Haptic Broadcasting system that allows the television audience to have realistic badminton game play experience with transmitted haptic sensation together with audiovisual content with existing broadcasting infrastructures. In this system, audio signals are being used as haptic content carrier so that the existing broadcasting infrastructures can be utilize to deliver realistic game play experience to worldwide television audience. In this paper, we describe the construction of real-time haptic capture system, embedded haptic display on a badminton racket and the effects of haptic slow motion in interactive game play.
