    Abstract

Experimental and theoretical studies on the ion kinetics of HF lasers initiated by e-beams are reported. Laser gas mixtures studied are either H2/F2/O2/SF6 or H2/F2/O2/NF3. During the modeling special attention is placed on fluorine atom formation processes, and all reactions that potentially affect the HF laser performance through HF(σ) formations and HF(σ) deactivation processes are considered. The experimental results, especially the laser output waveforms, are well predicted by the model.
