Abstract

Several types of fibre LDV systems using a polarization preserving single mode fibre with micro rod lenses at both ends are available nowadays. A fibre linked hybrid LDV probe and a four fibre LDV probe both ends is described. The miniaturized four beam probe which weighed only 0.8 kg was easily traversed on a precision traversing system controlled by a microcomputer and was used to measure the flow of a premixed test burner. The results confirmed their performance and showed the system to be versatile and applicable to various types of flow. (from authors' abstract)
