Abstract

In this paper, we propose a method for measuring the magnetic field as a 2-D tomographic image, applying an algorithm of CT to the electromagnetic induction phenomenon, and also show some experimental results to demonstrate the efficacy. When a line conductor moves relatively to a field of magnetic flux density, the voltage is induced between both ends of the line conductor. The measurement of the voltage during the field movement provides a projection data of the flux density distribution in the plane where the line conductor passed. Collecting this projection data at every angle, and applying the CT algorithm to them, the flux density distribution can be reconstructed in a 2-D tomographic image. We performed imaging experiments of a magnetic flux density distribution produced by a U-sbaped permanent magnet and succeeded in getting high quality reconstructed images.
