Mathematical modeling and analysis of semicircular linear motor

Abstract

A semicircular linear motor that realizes a motion along circumference of the circle has been developed. To improve the performance of the motor, theoretical equation is required for mathematical analysis. In this paper, a relation between the motor performance and structural parameter is clarified by solving the thrust equation of the motor. By comparing calculation result based on the mathematical equation and analysis result by electromagnetic analysis, the validity of mathematical modeling is indicated. In addition, obtained thrust coefficient from experiment is compared with the calculation result. The experimental result indicates different value from the calculation result. Then, the cause of difference is examined based on variance of coil turns density due to trapezoidal coil.
