Abstract
Microwave irradiation was applied to a sterically demanding ring-closing metathesis catalyzed by a second-generation Grubbs catalyst. Under strict temperature control, reaction acceleration by microwave irradiation was observed. The observed acceleration effect was estimated to be equivalent to a rising temperature of 2.5-5°C range under conventional heating conditions.
