Abstract

In the H-mode plasmas, ELM burst modulates heat and particle transport into the divertor plate. The strong non-equilibrium plasma state takes place in the divertor region, which also modulates the behavior of atomic processes. The interaction between such plasmas and neutral particles, however, is not sufficiently understood. In the present study, the simulation model is developed to understand the relation between the non-equilibrium plasma and the excited neutral particles during ELM. The present model consists of two parts: (1) EEDF calculation routine by the PIC method and (2) the rate calculation routine based on the CR model. The numerical result shows the clear difference between the population density calculated from the present model and the conventional model, which assumes the EEDF as an equilibrium Maxwell distribution. These initial results suggest that the present model is useful for the physical understanding of atomic process and non-equilibrium plasma during ELM burst.
