Abstract

Drive control of NC machine tools is based on linear interpolation. When machining curved surfaces using linear interpolation, problems such as the feedrate not reaching the command feedrate and decreased machining accuracy and surface quality are met. In order to solve such problems, a method to generate NC data taking into consideration the control characteristics of a machine tool is proposed. The effectiveness of the proposed method is confirmed by simulations and experiments. It is found that the proposed method can reduce the cutting time by approximately 50% compared to conventional CAM systems while maintaining the same surface quality.
