N2 - Nonlinear-optical properties of an organic crystal, 2-furyl methacrylic anhydride, are characterized. The crystal, whose cutoff wavelength is 380 nm, belongs to the 4mm point group and is optically uniaxial. Dispersions of refractive indices and the quadratic nonlinear coefficients d33 (24 pm/V) and d3l (16 pm/V) are measured. Collinear phase-matched second-harmonic generation at 532.1 nm with a polished crystal is demonstrated, andpatterns of noncollinear phase matching are discussed and observed experimentally. The crystal is phase matchable for fundamental wavelengths as low as 908 nm. The second-harmonic wavelength is tuned from 451.9 to 455.4 nm by temperature-controlled 90 phase matching.
