Observation of chaotic oscillations in a diode-pumped Nd:YAG microchip laser array with an external mirror

    Abstract

    The chaotic oscillations of a diode-pumped Nd:YAG microchip laser array with an auxiliary external mirror at a Talbot distance from the laser crystal are examined. When all the lasers are resonant with the Talbot external cavity, the phases of all the lasers are locked to each other, and chaotic oscillations disappeared. However, when the Talbot mirror is slightly tilted, chaotic oscillations in the order of relaxation oscillation are observed.
