Abstract
N-Succinyl chitosan, which is easily obtained from chitin, the world's second most abundant type of biomass, was directly converted in one step into nitrogen-containing alkyl glycosides using fatty alcohols and 10-camphorsulfonic acid (CSA) in an ionic liquid, 1-n-butyl-3-methylimidazolium chloride (Bmim[Cl]).
