Abstract

The effect of predetection Gaussian bandpass filtering on the 2-bit differential detection of Gaussian minimum-shift-keying (GMSK) is analyzed. The authors obtain the bit error rate for five representative patterns by making use of Stein's formula and calculate the optimum product of bandwidth (B) and bit duration (T) of Gaussian bandpass filter. It is shown that the optimum BT product is 0. 52.
