Abstract

In this paper, we consider packet scheduling for cellular networks with relaying in high speed downlink shared channel, where mobile users are equipped with not only cellular but also ad hoc radio interfaces. In order to improve the system throughput, we propose a centralized packet scheduling scheme by adjusting transmission rates dynamically in response to the variation of channel quality and packet delay. A base station selects the appropriate relaying based on users' channel quality, and schedules packets to the users by considering their achieved data rate, traffic congestion and proportional fairness. We demonstrate by numerical results that the proposed scheme can utilize the capacity of network more efficiently, and achieve proportional fairness and traffic balance to users.
