Abstract

We propose a wavelength assignment algorithm which can improve mean packet delay performance in WDM single-hop network using a master/slave scheduler with transceiver tuning latencies. Our proposed algorithm can mask tuning time of a transceiver by assigning the identical wavelength to the data channel in which the node transmits data packet to the same destination node or receives data packet from the same source node in continuous time slots. We compare the performance of the proposed algorithm with that of the conventional algorithm with respect to mean packet delay and throughput by computer simulations. It is shown that our proposed algorithm can improve mean packet delay performance.
