Abstract

A novel scheme for generating collimated picosecond pulses based on dual-wavelength-pumped Raman conversion is proposed and numerically analyzed. We have numerically obtained VUV pulses with durations as short as 25 ps, from nanosecond primary pump pulses with the same wavelength and moderate intensity, by applying intense picosecond secondary pump pulses with longer wavelength simultaneously with the primary pump. Dependence of generated picosecond pulse shape on primary and secondary pump laser parameters as well as that on the phase mismatch is investigated.
