Polarisation independent tunable liquid-crystal Fabry-Perot interferometer filter module with double-pass configuration

Abstract

A novel tunable liquid-crystal Fabry-Perot interferometer (LCFPI) filter module with a Faraday rotator and double-pass configuration has been fabricated. The filter module has a 3dB bandwidth of ~0.4nm, a 20dB bandwidth of 1.5nm, and a polarisation dependent loss (PDL) < 0.8dB over a tuning range of 56nm. More than 49dB isolation from the output port to the input port has been achieved.
