Abstract

By applying the Mosquito method, we fabricate tapered polymer waveguides for spot size converters (SSCs) enabling low-loss coupling between Si waveguides and standard single mode fibers. The fabricated SSC exhibits remarkably low insertion loss as 2.77 dB.
