Power scaling of continuous-wave visible Pr3+: YLF laser end-pumped by high power blue laser diodes

    Abstract

    We demonstrate a power scaling of a continuous-wave Pr3+:YLF laser at 640 and 607 nm, by utilizing a 20-W level fiber-delivered blue laser diode (LD) module, and 3.5-W single emitter blue diodes. In the fiber-delivered-LD pumping, we successfully suppress a thermal aberration, and obtain an output power of 3.1 W at a slope efficiency of 23% with a beam quality of M2~1.6. In the single emitter diode pumping, we achieved an output power 4.8 and 2.1 W at 640 and 607 nm, respectively.
