N2 - The O-glycosidations of glycals, 3,4-di-O-acetyl-L-rhamnal (1) and 3,4,6-tri-O-acetyl-D-glucal (2), with several alcohols using an acidic clay, montmorillonite K-10, as an environmentally acceptable and inexpensive industrial catalyst under mild conditions proceeded effectively to give the corresponding 2,3-unsaturated O-glycosides in high yields.
