Preparation of fluorescent hollow particles by a layer-by layer method

Abstract

We intended to prepare fluorescent hollow particles by a layer-by-layer method. We used liposomes as a template for hollow particles to immobilize ZnS:Mn2+ nanoparticles (quantum dots),which were prepared by a coprecipitation method. Liposome-polyallylamine complexes fabricated by a layer-by-layer method were stable in a detergent(TritonX-100). We prepared a liposome-ZnS:Mn2+ (LZ)complex, a liposome-polyallylamine-ZnS:Mn 2+ (LPZ)complex and a liposome-polyallylamine-mercap-toacetic acid-ZnS:Mn2+ (LPMZ)complex. We observed that the LP(PAH)MZ complex was most stably dispersed in an aqueous solution among three complexes.
